An Early Warning

When I first announced my intentions to create this web site, My friend and fellow skeptic Claus Larsen (editor of SkepticReoprt.com) gave me a friendly warning. I no longer have that email, but the warning went something like this:

"Robert, if you have any skeletons in your closet, if you have ANYTHING in your life or your past which you would not want made public, you might want to reconsider creating a site about Browne.

If your site annoys her, especially if it cuts into her profits, she will hire people to dig into your past. If they find anything which could be used against you, Browne will not hesitate to do so."

I gave this some serious thought, and came to the rather sad conclusion that I was a pretty boring guy.

The only potentially embarrassing thing I could think of: I (and my ex-wife) owe the IRS a lot of money in back taxes.

A lot of money (more than $100,000, plus another $100.000+ in interest and penalties).

Although this is nothing to be proud of, I decided that if it were to be made public, so be it.

Putting the evidence about Browne out in the public view would be worth the embarrassment of having my tax problems publicized.

Browne Admits Hiring a PI

As was discussed in this article, Browne told UK journalist Jon Ronson, when asked about her critics,

"I've had a private investigator on Randi and Lancaster, and I know enough on them to hang 'em."

As I said in that previous article: If Browne is "psychic", and has access (via her "spirit guide" Francine) to "the mind of God", then why does she need to hire a PI?

She should be able to find out everything about me she could ever want by just asking Francine!

She had already tried - unsuccessfully - to intimidate (James) Randi on Larry King Live with allusions to a story

she evidently thought would silence his criticism of her. It did not, as Randi discussed in this article from his weekly commentary: **LINK to Swift So, Browne claimed to have enough on me to hang me. I knew of nothing she - or anyone - could "have" on me, so I wondered what, if anything, she THOUGHT she had. I contacted Ronson, and asked what she had told him. He said "she told me that you owed the IRS a lot of money, and that was it." At first, I thought this showed that she HAD hired a PI, but actually, it would not take a PI to learn about my IRS debt. It is publicly available information, or I wouldn't have gotten so much "let us help you with your IRS debt" junkmail over the years. So, Browne had found out about it. She felt this was "enough to 'hang' me?" Not in my book. But, as I said, there's nothing else to be found that I can think of. I would imagine that, had Browne found any real "dirt" on me, she would have tried to use it to either blackmail or discredit me by now. Her **lame attempt to shut this site down via an attorney - with no just cause - shows me that.
